Marvin Harrison Jr. Set for Texans Debut in London
Newly acquired wide receiver marvin harrison jr. will take the field for the Houston Texans against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans. The announcement clears up whether the young playmaker would be active immediately following his recent relocation.
The swift transition comes after Harrison arrived in Houston on Monday. The Texans, sitting at 1-4, traded 2027 second- and seventh-round draft picks to the Arizona Cardinals to secure the wideout and a 2027 sixth-round pick following a tough start to his professional career with the Cardinals.
Reunion With College Quarterback C.J. Stroud
For Harrison, the move offers a fresh start and a chance to reconnect with familiar company. He expressed excitement about teaming back up with quarterback C.J. Stroud, noting that their prior rapport at Ohio State during the 2021 and 2022 seasons creates a strong foundation. Stroud has performed well through the opening five weeks of the campaign, ranking fourth in passing yards with 1,402.
Stroud noted that he expects the transition period to be brief because of their shared history and mutual understanding of route execution and play preferences. In Arizona, Harrison recorded five catches on 13 targets for 85 yards and a touchdown this season, bringing his overall career totals to 1,578 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 108 receptions across 33 games.
Fast Adaptation and Preparation
After passing his physical on Monday, Harrison completed his first practice session with Houston on Wednesday. While learning a new playbook typically presents hurdles, coach Ryans expressed complete confidence in Harrison's dedication.
Ryans highlighted that Harrison spent his very first night in Houston working late alongside assistant wide receiver coach Tiquan Underwood to master the details of the playbook. That intensive preparation enabled him to fit seamlessly into a wide receiver room that already features Nico Collins, Xavier Hutchinson, and Jaylin Noel as the team prepares for Sunday's international matchup.
