Missouri State Football Claims Historic Subdivision Win
Missouri State triumphed over Kennesaw State 24-21 on Wednesday evening, sealing the outcome on a walk-off field goal as regulation time expired. This victory marks the initial Bowl Subdivision win for the Bears under the direction of coach Casey Woods.
Offensive Highlights and Game Momentum
Quarterback Henry Belin IV orchestrated the offense with a career-best 300 passing yards, completing 28 of 39 attempts and distributing passes to eight different receivers. Wide receiver Isaiah Myers proved pivotal by hauling in seven receptions for 135 yards and catching two touchdown passes of 14 and 12 yards that twice tied the game during the second half.
Early in the contest, the Bears established a 6-0 advantage courtesy of two successful field goals by Yousef Obeid. However, Kennesaw State responded before halftime when Rickie Collins connected with Dylan Gary on a 10-yard touchdown pass to pull ahead.
Kennesaw State Performance and Final Drive
The second half featured back-and-forth scoring until Missouri State reclaimed possession with just 6:06 left on the clock. The offense mounted a 12-play, 68-yard march down the field, setting the stage for Obeid to convert the game-winning 20-yard kick.
For Kennesaw State, Collins finished with 260 yards through the air on 27-of-35 passing, while Gary contributed 10 receptions for 135 yards. The defeat extends the Owls' losing streak to five games following their opening-week win.
Upcoming Matchups
Looking ahead, Missouri State prepares to hit the road to face Delaware on October 20. Meanwhile, Kennesaw State aims to regroup before returning home to host Liberty on October 22.
