Ranji Trophy 2026 Fixture Details
The upcoming First-Class fixture features Punjab taking on Chhattisgarh at the New PCA Stadium, with matches scheduled to commence on Sunday. Both teams enter the match looking to establish dominance early in the competition, particularly with Chhattisgarh aiming to improve upon their single-point yield from their opening game against Saurashtra.
Punjab Squad Depth and Recent Form
While the addition of seasoned players brings strong presence to the team, Punjab's batting depth has already proven itself. During the opening encounter against Assam, younger squad members such as Vihaan Malhotra, Emanjot Singh Chahal, and Salil Arora delivered stellar performances by scoring centuries and securing a crucial first-innings lead. Meanwhile, the team's bowling unit addressed previous uncertainties by claiming six wickets across two sessions on a flat track during a late push for victory.
Chhattisgarh Preparations
On the opposing side, Chhattisgarh seeks a more robust top-order performance after a misfire prevented them from chasing down a 392-run first-innings total in their previous outing. While captain Anuj Tiwary anchored a middle-order fight, the team will look toward players like Amandeep Khare and Ayush Pandey—who also recently returned from India-A duties—to spend more time at the crease during the upcoming match.
