Ongoing Search Efforts by Air and Sea
Rescuers continue to comb the Pacific Ocean waters using multiple aircraft, cutters, and naval vessels. The U.S. efforts are being bolstered by assistance from the Mexican Navy, with additional helicopters deployed to scan the region for the 11 people still unaccounted for.
The emergency response began when a distress transmission was received around 1 a.m. local time. A rescue helicopter arrived at the coordinates roughly two hours later, and crew members spent about an hour and a half pulling the 16 survivors from the water.
