AMC Theatres has revealed follow-ups to its infamous movie tie-in merchandise, introducing two new sharing-friendly versions of the dune 3 popcorn bucket ahead of the upcoming film. The theater chain hopes to replicate the massive retail and online success of the previous release.

The newly unveiled items include a Sandworm Thumper Collectible and a Double Sandworm Collectible. The double-worm design was specifically created to make sharing easier for couples and pairs.

Background on the Popcorn Bucket Phenomenon

The previous sandworm container for the second installment became a viral internet phenomenon and sparked a wider merchandising trend across theater chains, with other companies later selling high-priced specialty containers. It also drew widespread attention when it was mocked in a television sketch featuring suggestive humor.

Executives at the theater chain noted that fan expectations are high following the previous viral success. The new items feature movie-accurate designs intended to elevate the experience.

Pricing and Additional Merchandise Availability

Both container designs will come bundled with a large portion of popcorn. They will be stocked at domestic AMC theaters and through Odeon Cinemas across Europe.

Aside from the containers, shoppers will be able to purchase alternative merchandise items. These supplementary products include themed drinkware, mystery keychains, and a soft sandworm plush.

Pricing details for the containers have not yet been finalized and will be shared closer to the official movie premiere scheduled for December 18. Meanwhile, advance ticket sales for the film have shown strong performance numbers in select regions.
