Florida A&M Vs Alcorn State Preview: Rattlers Prepare for Jaylon Tolbert

Florida A&M Vs Alcorn State Week 10 Clash

Florida A&M hits the road to take on Alcorn State in a crucial Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup. The visiting Rattlers enter the contest looking to snap a three-game losing skid under head coach Quinn Fordham Gray Sr.

Alcorn State welcomes the visitors to Jack Spinks-Marino Casem Stadium in Lorman, Mississippi, for their first meeting at the venue since 1987. The Braves hold a 5-4 overall record with a 3-2 conference standing, ranking fourth in the USA TODAY HBCU Football Rankings and Black College Football Poll.

Defensive Challenge Against Alcorn State Football

The primary focal point for Florida A&M is finding a way to slow down standout quarterback Jaylon Tolbert. Head coach Gray acknowledged the exceptional dual-threat capabilities of the senior signal-caller, who leads the entire NCAA Division I FCS in passing yards with 2,681 and shares the national lead with 27 passing touchdowns.

The Rattlers are adjusting defensively under safety and nickelbacks coach Christopher Cash, who takes over defensive playcalling duties following a recent coaching shift. FAMU currently sits near the bottom of the SWAC in total defense, struggling primarily with run defense, though their pass defense ranks sixth in the league.
