Michael Douglas Shares Rare Update on Where Jack Nicholson Is Today

Michael Douglas Gives an Update on jack nicholson

Actor Michael Douglas recently offered a rare update on his longtime friend jack nicholson, explaining that the legendary star is doing well after stepping away from the film industry. Speaking during an event in Swansea, Wales, to discuss his memoir One Helluva Ride, Douglas noted that his colleague has largely retreated from public life.

“He’s not working any more. He’s well. He has disappeared. I know that,” Douglas shared at the late October event. The two actors share a decades-long bond that began when Douglas produced their acclaimed 1975 feature, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Life Away From Hollywood

Offering further insight into daily life for jack nicholson, Douglas explained that the retired actor is enjoying a quiet routine near his property. “I still see him, but he is fine. He is up there by his house and walking around in his slippers. It happens. He deserves it. I understand,” Douglas added.

Nicholson has largely avoided public appearances since his final film role in the 2010 movie How Do You Know. Despite his retirement, he made a brief public appearance in February 2025 to introduce Adam Sandler from the audience at the SNL50: The Anniversary Special event. Prior to that, he was spotted at a Los Angeles Lakers playoff game in April 2023.

A Decades-Long Friendship

Reflecting on their history together, Douglas expressed regret that they never shared screen time as actors, though he praised Nicholson's immense impact on their classic collaboration. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest went on to earn nine Oscar nominations and secured five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.
