Law enforcement authorities in Hyderabad have dismantled a major counterfeit currency operation, resulting in four arrests and the recovery of 6.78 crore in fake bills. The joint operation was conducted by local police forces and specialized teams who intercepted a vehicle near Ramoji Film City on National Highway-65.

Details of the Seized Currency and Equipment

During the intervention, authorities recovered massive quantities of 500-rupee fake notes along with equipment used for manufacturing. The confiscated machinery includes printers, laptops, and currency cutting tools utilized to mass-produce the illicit bills.

Rented House Used as a Printing Unit

According to investigators, the accused established a hidden printing facility inside a rented property situated in Kuntloor on the city's outskirts. This location served as the base where the fake 500-rupee currency was systematically printed and processed before being circulated.

Impersonation and Extortion Tactics

Beyond producing counterfeit money, the arrested individuals reportedly engaged in extortion. Evidence gathered during the investigation revealed that the group utilized fake police identity cards, walkie-talkies, and replica firearms to pose as law enforcement personnel, intimidating citizens and committing fraud.

Ongoing Police Investigation

Authorities have identified the detained suspects as Madupoju Karnakar, Chinnola Manikya Reddy, Cherukupelli Ratnakar Reddy, and Karanam Ajay Kumar. Police Commissioner Dr. Tarun Joshi confirmed that the investigation remains active as officials trace the origin of the equipment and investigate potential wider networks involved in distributing the fake currency.
