For comparison, Malabar Gold priced its 22-karat gold at ₹13,150 per gram and its 24-karat gold at ₹14,345 per gram on the same date. Based on published company figures, the 22-karat base rate set by tanishq was ₹40 higher per gram than its competitor.
Significance of Festival Purchases
The tradition of buying valuable items during this period marks the commencement of the five-day Diwali festival. Cultural practices link the day to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Dhanvantari, symbolizing wealth and health.
Gold historically remains a preferred store of value due to its durability across generations. Buyers coordinate their purchases around specific muhurat timings, which can vary slightly depending on geographical sunrise and sunset schedules.
