Tesla Roadster Reveal and Performance
Tesla recently showcased its new cyberpunk-looking Roadster EV at SpaceX's facility in Waco, Texas. During the event, the vehicle demonstrated unique stunts, including launching off an inverted roller coaster ramp, performing air flips, and using air thrusters to land safely on the tarmac. CEO Elon Musk and Tesla representatives also detailed its specifications, noting a 0-60 mph time of under 1 second during a test and a target top speed of up to 230 mph.
Tesla Roadster Price and Configurations
Interested buyers looking into the tesla roadster price structure will find that the vehicle is offered in three distinct configurations:
- Performance: A road-ready, two-seater vehicle featuring a multi-mode suction system. Tesla requires a $5,000 deposit followed by a $45,000 wire transfer within 10 days for this version.
- Thrust: A race-ready, two-seater version equipped with a multi-mode suction system and rear-mounted cold-gas thrusters, achieving 0-60 mph in under 1 second. This variant requires a $250,000 deposit.
- Rocket: An air-ready, single-seat configuration featuring perimeter-mounted cold-gas thrusters for forward, upward, and lateral movement. This version is invite-only, and no official MSRP amounts were released.
Looking Ahead to Production
While the demonstration highlighted short-flight capabilities enabled by compressed air thrusters, it remains unclear how the Rocket version will comply with public road regulations. Tesla has announced that production for the vehicle is targeted to begin in 2028.
