Arshdeep Singh Dismisses Finn Allen and Equals Record in T20I Clash
India pacer Arshdeep Singh claimed his 65th powerplay wicket by dismissing opener Finn Allen during the fifth T20I match against New Zealand.

Early Breakthrough Led by Arshdeep Singh and Finn Allen
India's left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh delivered an early breakthrough during the fifth and final T20I match against New Zealand at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Sunday. By removing opening batter finn allen in the second over, the bowler secured his 65th powerplay dismissal in the format.
The dismissal arrived during the 1.3 over when Allen attempted to pull a short-of-length delivery. Extra bounce caused the ball to catch the top edge of the bat and soar toward midwicket, where fielder Ishan Kishan secured a fine catch. Allen exited the field with just two runs from three balls.
Equalling International Bowling Records
This dismissal allowed Arshdeep Singh to match former New Zealand bowler Tim Southee for the most wickets secured within the first six overs of men's T20I games involving Full Member nations, with both holding 65 powerplay scalps. However, the Indian fast bowler accomplished this benchmark in 99 innings, whereas Southee required 119 innings.
New Zealand Innings Recovery
Following the early loss, Tim Seifert and Daryl Mitchell worked together to stabilize the home side's total. Seifert spearheaded the counterattack with 41 runs from 25 balls, while Mitchell added 14 runs from eight deliveries, bringing New Zealand to 59/1 by the close of the powerplay. The sixth over proved costly for the bowling side as Bhuvneshwar Kumar conceded 20 runs, allowing Seifert to strike two sixes and a boundary under pressure.
