Dhanteras 2026 Set for November 6 Alongside Auspicious Astrological Alignments

Timing and Astrological Significance for Dhanteras

As the festive season approaches, market activity is anticipated to accelerate ahead of Deepawali, which falls on November 8. Astrological calculations indicate multiple auspicious purchasing periods spanning from November 1 through November 6. Notably, November 1 features Ravi Pushyami yoga, beginning early at 5:42 AM and extending until 4:30 AM on November 2, accompanied by Sarvartha Siddhi yoga.

Furthermore, dhanteras arrives on November 6, bringing a special planetary alignment. According to astrologer KK Shastri, the union of Venus and Mercury on this day creates the Lakshmi Narayan Rajyog, noted as favorable for wealth, commerce, and economic progress. Pandit Kishori Saran notes that Ravi Pushyami yoga is traditionally considered ideal for acquiring gold, commissioning jewelry, and investing in permanent assets.

Traditional Practices and Purchasing Customs

Regarded as a date featuring unquestioned auspicious timing, dhanteras involves various traditional acquisitions according to individual household means. Shoppers frequently buy gold and silver ornaments, coins, and utensils made of brass, copper, and silver.

In addition to metals, buying brooms holds a specific place in local customs, with the belief that it dispels household negativity and poverty. Tradition also encourages purchasing whole coriander to offer to Goddess Lakshmi, storing it afterward within the home, alongside acquiring salt which is likewise deemed fortunate on dhanteras.
