East Bengal Secured a Goalless Stalemate in Oman
India's East Bengal FC was held to a 0-0 draw by Oman's Al Seeb Club during their third fixture of the acl two group stage. The encounter took place at the Al Seeb Stadium in Seeb, Oman, leaving both squads to share the points after failing to capitalize on multiple scoring chances.
Match Action and Missed Opportunities
Playing in front of their home supporters, Al Seeb initiated the attack brightly when Abdulmageed Al Balushi tested goalkeeper Phurba Lachenpa early in the eighth minute. Shortly after, Abdulaziz Al Maqbali set up Ahmed Al Riyami for a left-footed curling shot that missed the target. East Bengal gradually worked their way into the fixture, with David Lalhlansanga and Anwar Ali both registering attempts from comparable positions that failed to break the deadlock.
The away side generated the initial threat after the interval when Edmund Lalrindika used his speed to outpace Hassan Al Ajmi in the 49th minute, though he ultimately fired over the crossbar from inside the box. Augustine Oladapo later chipped the ball forward to Axel Meye, whose effort drifted across the face of the goal. Persistent finishing struggles for both sides meant neither could secure a decisive victory.
Group D Standings and Upcoming Schedule
Following this result in the afc champions league 2, East Bengal occupies third place in Group D with two points, while Al Seeb sits one point behind them at the halfway point of the group stage. Al Shorta of Iraq currently leads the group with seven points, with Al Hussein of Jordan positioned second holding five points.
The two teams will face each other once more during Matchday Four, scheduled for November 3 in Kolkata, where both squads will look to improve their standing in the afc cup pathway.
