Rafael Câmara Secures 2027 Haas F1 Seat
Formula Two championship leader Rafael Câmara is set to graduate to Formula One after signing a race seat with the Haas team for the 2027 season. The 21-year-old Brazilian will step into the premier racing series as a rookie, partnering alongside British driver Ollie Bearman.
The announcement confirms that the young talent will take over the seat currently occupied by Esteban Ocon, after the French driver was deemed surplus to requirements by the American-owned constructor. Câmara currently serves as a member of Ferrari's junior academy and leads the F2 feeder series standings.
Reactions and Academy Support
Reflecting on the milestone, the incoming rookie expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming promotion. Team owner Gene Haas and team principal Ayao Komatsu extended their trust to the young driver, while Câmara also thanked the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy for their continuous support during his developmental years.
Preparation for the grand step up remains the driver's primary focus as he looks forward to understanding the machinery and collaborating closely with the crew. Meanwhile, Haas currently sits seventh out of eleven teams in the constructors' standings as the season approaches its final six rounds, with Bearman having contributed 23 of the squad's 30 points so far.
