Guy Ritchie Expands Prime Video Slate as Young Sherlock Season 2 Adds Cast
Prime Video has expanded the cast for Season 2 of Young Sherlock, continuing filmmaker Guy Ritchie's journey into the origins of the literary legend.

Guy Ritchie Continues Victorian Mystery Success
Prime Video has announced new cast additions as production expands for Season 2 of Young Sherlock. The series extends the television footprint of filmmaker guy ritchie, shifting focus from criminal underworlds to historical investigations.
Exploring the Origins of a Literary Legend
Released on Prime Video in 2026, the series features a 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin at Oxford University in 1871. Rather than portraying an established consulting detective, the narrative presents a reckless protagonist who becomes a prime suspect in a murder investigation. To clear his name, he partners with fellow intellectual misfit James Moriarty, portrayed by Dónal Finn.
Showrunner Matthew Parkhill designed the narrative to explore the formative years before the events introduced in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's A Study in Scarlet. While drawing inspiration from Andrew Lane's novels, the show invents new storylines rather than directly adapting the published plots.
Cast Additions and Expanding Production
As Prime Video expands the cast for Season 2, viewers continue to track updates regarding filming and release windows. The broader ensemble features Natascha McElhone and Joseph Fiennes as Sherlock's parents, alongside Max Irons, Zine Tseng as Princess Shou'an, and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge. Critics note that the project offers a distinct narrative tone compared to Ritchie's previous gangster comedies, combining historical adventure and detective fiction into an eight-episode arc.
