Gwalior Husband Attacks Wife With Sword Over Mobile Video Dispute

A domestic dispute turned violent in ग्वालियर when a man allegedly attacked his wife with a sword following an argument over which religious videos to watch on a mobile phone. The victim sustained serious injuries during the assault and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Police have registered a case of attempted murder against the accused husband, who remains at large following the incident on Monday night.

Dispute Over Mobile Videos Escalates

According to the information gathered from authorities and statements, the 38-year-old victim, Revati alias Ritu Tomar, was in her room with her children on the night of October 26, around 11:00 PM. They were watching mobile video clips related to Lord Rama. During this time, her 42-year-old husband, Karanveer alias Karu Tomar, entered the room and objected to the content, insisting that she watch videos dedicated to Mahakal instead.

When she refused to switch the videos, a verbal altercation broke out between the couple. The situation quickly intensified, with the husband threatening divorce before escalating the confrontation further.

Sword Attack Inside the Home

Driven by anger, the husband went to the household temple, retrieved a sword stored there, and began threatening his wife with lethal consequences. Before she could react properly, he struck her head. When she raised her hands in defense, the blade impacted her wrist.

As she attempted to flee the room, he delivered additional strikes to her neck and knees. The entire violent episode unfolded in front of their elder son and the victim's mother-in-law.

Victim Seeks Refuge and Medical Help

Bleeding heavily from multiple wounds on her back, hands, and legs, the woman managed to escape into a neighboring residence. She locked the door from the inside before losing consciousness. Neighbors and family members intervened to rescue her and swiftly transported her to the trauma center at Jayarogya Hospital (JAH) for emergency medical care.

On Tuesday, law enforcement officers from the Hazira police station arrived at the hospital to record the victim's statement. Based on her account, authorities have formally filed a charge of attempted murder against Karu Singh Tomar, while search efforts continue to apprehend the runaway suspect.
