Hansi Flick Praises Brian Fariñas Amid Defensive Selection Dilemmas

Hansi Flick Expresses Confidence in brian fariñas

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is addressing severe squad limitations ahead of his team's upcoming fixture at the Spotify Camp Nou. With multiple defensive absences forcing a complete backline redesign, the German coach has highlighted the readiness of young midfielder brian fariñas, who has been training with the senior squad since the beginning of the season.

Flick remarked on the intelligence and strong work ethic shown by the young player, noting that he performs fantastically and deserves playing time. You can read more about squad adjustments in the FC Barcelona vs Deportivo Alavés Lineups Revealed for La Liga Clash report.

Defensive Shortages and Selection Pressures

The Catalan club faces a defensive crisis with four players sidelined in the rear guard: Christensen, Eric García, Koundé, and Xavi Espart. These ongoing absences have forced the technical staff to seek alternative solutions, which could include re-positioning players to fill defensive gaps.

While the injuries open potential opportunities, coach Flick continues to evaluate individual player readiness carefully. He noted that defensive stability remains paramount when maintaining a high tactical press.

Situation Surrounding Alejandro Balde

Amid the defensive shuffle, left-back Alejandro Balde continues to experience limited playing time. Flick explained that the young academy product currently lacks the necessary confidence and conviction required to perform at his highest level.

Balde has logged just 88 minutes across three appearances this campaign and is slated to start on the bench. Despite the team's defensive shortages, the technical staff believes that restoring his confidence remains essential before he returns to a regular starting role.

Expected Lineup Decisions

To cope with the defensive crisis against Alavés, the projected starting defensive setup is anticipated to feature brian fariñas positioned at right-back, alongside Pau Cubarsí and Gerard Martín in central defense, with Joao Cancelo operating on the left flank.
