Roster Updates and Offseason Changes

The visiting team enters the court following a significant period of roster restructuring. Most notably, the Timberwolves completed a trade bringing in LaMelo Ball to serve as a primary backcourt partner alongside Anthony Edwards, sending Naz Reid to the Charlotte Hornets in the process. Additionally, the franchise moved on from Julius Randle during the offseason.

Minnesota also secured long-term depth by signing Jaden McDaniels—recognized as one of the squad's most flexible athletes—to a contract extension spanning through the 2029-30 campaign. Preseason appearances have already showcased early development and court awareness between Edwards and the newly arrived Ball.

Following Wednesday's opening contest, the team prepares for its upcoming home schedule. The Timberwolves game welcoming supporters back to their home arena is slated for Sunday night against the Toronto Raptors.

Meanwhile, the opposing Miami roster features notable veteran talent, including Bam Adebayo, Klay Thompson, former Minnesota top draft choice Andrew Wiggins, and newly acquired star Giannis Antetokounmpo following an offseason trade.
