कर्ज माफी: New Rules Announced for Crop Loan Waivers and Relief
The government has introduced major revisions to its agricultural loan waiver initiative, offering complete clearing of debts up to 75,000 rupees for eligible growers.

Understanding the Recent Changes to Agricultural Debt Relief
Rising expenditures on seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, and labor have created financial hurdles for the agricultural community. When harvest yields fail to generate sufficient revenue, settling borrowed funds becomes exceptionally difficult. To address these difficulties, authorities have implemented significant updates to the crop loan waiver initiative to support producers.
Under the revised guidelines, individuals who took out agricultural borrowings through cooperative societies will experience structural changes in how their balances are managed. The objective is to ease economic pressure and ensure that a larger portion of the cultivating population receives assistance.
Details of the 75,000 Rupee Relief Framework
The revised structure alters previous assistance caps significantly. Under earlier regulations, specific tiers dictated smaller partial reimbursements for larger debts. The updated provisions streamline support by ensuring that growers who borrowed up to 75,000 rupees will have their entire balance cleared.
Furthermore, those with higher borrowing amounts will still receive a maximum concession of 75,000 rupees. Projections indicate that millions of participants will benefit from these adjustments, spanning both complete debt clearance and fixed financial relief tiers.
Expanded Budget Allocations and Timelines
To accommodate the broader scope of the agricultural debt relief program, additional funds have been sanctioned by the Department of Cooperation, Food, and Consumer Protection. A substantial supplementary budget has been approved to cover the projected total expenditure for the undertaking.
Additionally, the timeframe for qualifying financing has been extended. The eligibility window now encompasses qualifying crop loans secured up to March 31, 2026, moving past the earlier cutoff date. Participants who independently settled their dues prior to the official announcement are also designated to receive consideration under the updated framework, alongside interest concessions and streamlined payment options.
