Luis de la Fuente Crowned Best Coach in London
Spain national team manager luis de la fuente was awarded the Johan Cruyff Trophy for the best coach in the world. The recognition took place during the France Football Ballon d'Or gala held at the London Palladium.
At 65 years and four months old, the Spanish selector finished ahead of fellow finalists including luis enrique, Arteta, Emery, and Vincent Kompany. The honor crowns a three-year period of unexpected and historic triumphs for the Spanish squad.
A Historic Run of Success
The successful journey began with the 2023 Nations League, which opened the door for Spain to conquer the 2024 Eurocopa against England in the Berlin final. The sequence culminated when the team lifted the World Cup trophy on July 19 at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Reflecting on the achievement during his emotional acceptance speech, the coach dedicated the milestone to his collective group.
“The individual success makes us visible; the collective, invincible,”he stated, while also expressing gratitude to his family, the RFEF, and his players.
Building on a Strong Foundation
Taking over following the turbulent end of the previous era, the coach maintained immense self-belief despite early setbacks like a defeat against Scotland. He integrated core players from younger categories, establishing a playing identity focused on initiative and initiative-taking personality.
Accompanied in London by representatives from his agency and a Royal Spanish Football Federation delegation, the manager emphasized that the award serves as a motivational stepping stone rather than a final destination.
