Honoring the Legacy of Ziaur Rahman
The Ziaur Rahman Foundation recently marked its 27th founding anniversary at a special event held at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Convention Centre in the capital. Leaders and members gathered to reflect on nearly three decades of humanitarian work, community outreach, and public service inspired by the vision of the late leader.
Human Welfare and Community Outreach
Established as a non-profit voluntary organisation on October 18, 1999, the foundation was created to carry forward public service initiatives beyond traditional political platforms. Leadership noted that the organisation has continuously worked to support disadvantaged populations through a variety of practical measures.
Key humanitarian efforts undertaken by the organisation include:
- Providing free medical treatment and healthcare services to poor and disadvantaged patients.
- Distributing crop seeds to support farmers and improve agricultural self-reliance.
- Aiding rural working women through the provision of sewing machines and economic empowerment tools.
- Executing social forestry projects, including planting numerous trees in Dhaka and across various regions.
- Distributing essential items such as winter clothing, safe drinking water, and educational stipends.
