Indian Stock Market Rallies as BSE Sensex Climbs Over 1,200 Points
Indian equities extended their winning streak as the bse sensex surged over 1,200 points, lifted by softer oil prices and renewed investor confidence.

Major Gains Lift the bse sensex and Nifty50 Indices
Indian benchmark indices extended their winning streak on Tuesday, led by a sharp upward movement in the bse sensex. Market participants responded positively to a combination of lower oil prices, renewed foreign institutional buying, and discussions surrounding potential tax reviews.
The bse sensex closed higher by 1,225 points, marking a 1.62% increase to finish at 76,917.85. Meanwhile, the Nifty50 crossed key thresholds to close at 23,810.85, up 370 points or 1.58%.
Key Drivers Behind the Market Rally
Investor confidence was bolstered by several macro factors. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman indicated that the government would consider requests from foreign investors to review the long-term capital gains tax structure. Analysts from Jefferies noted that a potential reduction in this tax could encourage overseas investors to return to the Indian market.
Additionally, crude oil prices remained subdued, with Brent crude futures staying below $105 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors recorded net buying of nearly Rs 3,115 crore, offering further support to domestic equities after weeks of outward capital movement.
Top Gainers and Sector Performance
Market heavyweights drove the momentum during the session. IndiGo and HDFC Bank emerged as the top performers on the bse sensex, advancing around 3% each. Other major companies including UltraTech Cement, Hindustan Unilever, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, and Infosys rose by approximately 2% each. Conversely, Reliance Industries experienced a mild correction, dropping just over 1% following a historic surge in the previous session.
Outlook and Upcoming Events
Market observers are closely tracking international developments, including upcoming election results and corporate earnings from global technology firms. While artificial intelligence-related trades face some margin pressure due to rising costs, domestic equities continue to benefit from positive local factors and steady corporate outcomes.
