SC Delhi vs Mohun Bagan Clash Preview
Sporting Club Delhi are preparing for their second successive test as they get ready to host Mohun Bagan Super Giant at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi. Both clubs enter this upcoming fixture looking to secure their very first points of the current Indian Super League season following disappointing results in their respective opening games.
Tomasz Tchórz's young squad put up a strong fight during their season opener, establishing a half-time lead away against Bengaluru FC before ultimately falling short in a 3-2 thriller that was decided by an 89th-minute goal. Meanwhile, their upcoming visitors are recovering from a narrow 1-0 defeat against NorthEast United.
Tactical Approach and Team News
Speaking to the media ahead of the match, Tchórz emphasized the importance of collective teamwork alongside keeping a close eye on key opposition players, noting the physical presence of Mohun Bagan's tall Scottish striker and the playmaking abilities of Sahal. The Phoenixes are expected to rely on their high-tempo pressing and continuity to pressure the visiting backline early on.
On the other side, the Mariners will be without midfielder Deepak Tangri due to a suspension. The visiting tactical setup features a formidable frontline that includes Lallianzuala Chhangte, Dejan Dražić, and Lee Erwin, who will look to break through a disciplined home defense.
Head-to-Head History and Match Schedule
This pairing previously met on the final day of the previous campaign, producing a dramatic encounter where injury-time heroics from Jamie Maclaren secured a 2-1 victory for Mohun Bagan. This upcoming match is scheduled for Friday, October 16, with kickoff set for 7:30 PM IST. Supporters can follow the action through live broadcasts available on SonyLIV and the official MG ISL YouTube Channel.
